1848 Treaty with Mexico transfers lands North of the Gila
River (Ariz.) to the U.S. consisting of California, Nevada, Utah,
Western Colorado and New Mexico.
1850 Utah Territory (Utah, Nevada-North of 36 degrees 30 min, Western Colorado
and SouthWestern Wyoming) organized.
1861 Utah Territory reorganized into the Colorado Territory (West half of
Colorado), the Utah Territory (Utah) and the Nevada Territory (Nevada-North
of 36 degrees 30 min). SouthWest Wyoming added to the Nebraska Territory.
1896 Utah admitted to the Union as 45th State.
