1848 Treaty with Mexico transfers lands North of the Gila
River (Ariz.) to the U.S. consisting of California, Nevada, Utah,
Western Colorado and New Mexico.
1850 Utah Territory (Utah, Nevada-North of 36 degrees 30 min, Western Colorado
and SouthWestern Wyoming) organized.
1850 New Mexico Territory (Western New Mexico, Arizona and
Nevada-South of 36 degrees 30 min) organized.
1861 Nevada Territory (Nevada-North of 36 degrees 30 min) created from
the Utah Territory.
1863 New Mexico Territory reorganized ?Nevada "piece" added to the Nevada Territory?
1864 Nevada admitted to the Union as 36th State.
