Colonial Land Claims 
1783    Treaty with Great Britain, "District of Maine"'s Northern borders in dispute until 1842.

1820    District of Maine separated from Massachusetts and admitted to
        the Union as 23rd state.

1842    Northern borders of New Hampshire and Maine are set by treaty
        with Great Britain.
